Course Aim

This unit covers the knowledge and practical skills needed to perform or technically administrate initial verifications or periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations. The qualification relates to the inspection and testing of electrical installations as detailed in the National Rules for Electrical Installations for Ireland. 

Course Objectives

Participants will develop an understanding of the legislative requirements governing the inspection and testing of electrical installations in Ireland, including the National Rules for Electrical Installations. The programme covers safe isolation procedures, correct selection and use of test instrumentation, and the completion of initial verification and periodic inspection activities in line with current industry standards. Participants will also learn how to identify non-compliant conditions, apply defect classifications, complete certification documentation accurately, and maintain safe working practices throughout testing activities.
